    ADNOC has unveiled a £2.7billion development for electrification of giant offshore oil and gas fields off Abu Dhabi. A “first-of-its kind” subsea transmission network will be built, decarbonising production by replacing existing offshore gas turbine generators with more sustainable power sources.     The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) R&D Centre has developed a system to monitor of DEWA’s underground distribution cables using Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning, state-of-the-art sensor technologies, and Big Data. The system helps monitor medium voltage underground distribution network with predictive analytics, incipient fault detection, which evaluates the health and long-term performance of distribution cable circuits in real-time.

The Spot robots, developed by Boston Dynamics, are being trialled by DEWA for detecting faults, testing the connection points of high-voltage cables, pinpointing leakage in water pipes, conducting security and monitoring patrols, and ensuring construction works are aligned with specifications by using multiple-angle cameras.
